Mar. 6th, 2006 04:42 pmI have been busy learning the secret language of my new baby. He is doing well and is such a sweet cuddle bear.
Since I have other things to do besides chasing the ringing telephone up and down the stairs, I have disabled the ringer. I love the rare moments of silence.
Today, Zeno's umbilical stump fell off. YAY!! It was so ugly and nasty - now he has a really cute belly button. He makes good eye contact and can recognize his binky. When we show it to him he opens his mouth. Sometimes he takes the binky in his hand and tries to put it back in his mouth, but only seems to get the plastic edge in so far.
His paternal grandmother still has not yet met him, as we have her quarantined with the flu.
One of the perquisites of living with a robotics researcher is the cool toys around the house. Yesterday, I watched "Roomba" vacuum the whole carpet upstairs. That thing is so clever. It starts out by forming a neat spiral, then it drives off in a line and turns at an angle when it hits an object. It somehow knows when it has finished vacuuming the whole room.
I am working on making some homemade birth announcements.
Yesterday, we watched "The Cat Returns". It is really good.
My Snowball Earth display can now be seen in the Founders building at UTD across from the Geoscience office.
I am really proud of my husband. He is working so hard and accomplishing great things, from designing world class robots to winning prestigious science awards. He has had to push back writing his dissertation until later in the year, but it will happen. He is getting a new business off the ground, inventing new technology, running a household, mastering a spiritual discipline and taking over the world.
Hopefully, if finances permit, later this year he will allow himself to take a nice honeymoon vacation with me someplace far away - and relax.
